ABOUT US

The Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) has completed twenty eight years in service to the nation in imparting continuing education to engineers & managers in engineering profession as well as providing consultancy services to the industry and government agencies.

ESCI is an autonomous organ of The Institution of Engineers (India), the country's premier professional organization, and this association brings to us certain unique benefits and opportunities which enable us to serve the Engineering Community better in today's fast moving world of technological & managerial changes. ESCI is certified for quality under ISO 9001:2000. ESCI is an autonomous institution recognised by AICTE, and has formal linkages with a large number of eminent engineers, managers & academicians who serve as adjunct faculty and consultants to ESCI. Their experience is best utilised to structure and deliver well - focused professional development programmes on current topical interest. Unlike most other training institutions, ESCI is thus able to deliver courses and services of specific relevance and focus to the client organizations. The choice of topics for the programmes outlined in the calendar, and their contents reflect this capability of ESCI. On an average about 6000 engineers and managers are given training at ESCI every year.

In addition to the open programmes listed, ESCI also offers specific programmes to suit the requirements of any individual organization. Such specific programmes have successfully been provided for various State Government departments, State Electricity Boards, the Nuclear Power Corporation, NTPC, NMDC, Singareni Collieries, DFID - Govt. of United Kingdom, Bhutan Power Corporation, Nepal Electricity Authority and many other industrial & Government entities. Over 150 engineering college teachers and administrators have been trained under World Bank Aided Programme of TEQIP. Over 400 engineers recruited by MPSEB, PSEB, CEA, PTCUL, MPPTCL were given induction training during 2007-08 and 2008-09.

ESCI had taken up prestigious consultancy assignments under World Bank aided projects in Power and Water Resource Sectors. ESCI was awarded the consultancy project of Human Resource Improvement Study for the Public Works Department (PWD), Govt. of Karnataka, 3rd Party Quality Control / Assurance and Audit in Indirasagar Main Canals and Sampoorna Grameena Rojgar Yojana (Special Component) by Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Physical verification and revaluation of assets of MSPGCL, Pilot project on Travel Demand Modeling / Transport Model for a Sustainable Hyderabad in collaboration with Planung Transport Verkehr AG (PTV), Germany Engineering Solutions for Climate Change with collaboration of Institution of Engineers, Denmark and other 12 countries. Several consultancy projects were also taken up in quality management in large industries.

In designing the training programmes, the best talent available in the country are drawn from academic, research and field segments. Most of the deliverables are application and practice oriented. The best faculty from academic, research institutions as well as field experts are drawn to handle the classes.

School of Post Graduate Studies of ESCI offers Post Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Management (PGDM-IM) with specialization in Civil, Power, Telecom and Transportation sectors. PGDM-IM programme approved by AICTE is specially designed, international exposure included to groom today's engineers in to tomorrow's professional Techno-Managers.

During the year 2009 - 2010, the endeavour of the management and faculty of ESCI is to elevate the institution to world class brand image. At a time when the Nation requires Centres of Excellence for training technological and managerial personnel at all levels, it is hoped that Engineering Industry and organizations would help us through participation in ESCI programmes and consultancy opportunities to meet this avowed objective. Our search to find new heights continues.
