Vibrations, Balancing, Alignment and Condition Monitoring of Rotating Equipment (Theory and Practical Orientation with Technical Visit) 18 – 21 Jun 13
INTRODUCTION: Vibration refers to mechanical oscillations about an equilibrium point. The oscillations may be periodic such as the motion of a pendulum or random such as the movement of a tire on a gravel road. Vibration is occasionally "desirable”. More often, vibration is undesirable, wasting energy and creating unwanted sound pollution. For example, the vibrational motions of engines, electric motors, or any mechanical device in operation are typically unwanted. Such vibrations can be caused by imbalances in the rotating parts. Imbalances in rotating parts are caused by unequal radial mass distribution on a rotor system, a shaft condition where the mass centerline does not coincide with the geometric centerline. Also the effective mass causes the rotor to be out of balance. Other reasons may be uneven friction, the meshing of gear teeth, etc Alignment also plays an important role in the health of the rotary equipment. While carrying alignment Skill, time management and place plays a vital role in upkeep, availability and liability of the rotating equipment. The Asset Effectiveness relates to extracting maximum profits from the minimum investment in plant and equipment, improving Equipment Reliability through the effective prediction (and then avoidance) of equipment failures and minimizing downtime through the integrated planning and scheduling of repairs indicated by Condition Monitoring techniques with those indicated by other techniques. The present programme aims at attending to above issues Objective The objective of the programme is to impart thorough understanding of the vibrations in rotating machinery and enhance their trouble shooting skills and monitoring the conditions of the rotating machinery equipment among practicing engineers and managers.

INTRODUCTION:Mind is the most important aspect of our life, in making decisions and in determining the right and working for the ultimate success. The success can be personal, professional or managerial. Every organisation needs to empower the individuals by giving excellent mind management training. Mind operates on some scientific principles and hence it becomes pertinent to know these principles and put them into use for proper perspective. Meditation is mind management. It is not forcing the mind to be quiet. It is to find the quiet that is there already. We are children of bliss. We suffer from stress and strain because we gave all the powers to the mind and made it our master. Not only that, we consider ourselves nothing but the mind. Positive Mind Management allows you to reach your full potential by training the most powerful tool you own. Positive Mind Management harnesses the power of your subconscious mind and allows you to really lose weight, quit cigarettes, achieve financial freedom, heal your body, change habits easily, empower your children to greatness, reduce stress in your life, make your business successful, get employed in a job you love, achieve the scholastic results you want and get rid yourself of lifelong fears and phobias. The mind has been the most phenomenal tool that a man carries with him in span of his life time. All achievements, all possibilities, fall under the realm of this great asset called mind. Success or failure, profit or loss, advantage or disadvantage, that a man derives out of any situation wholly depends upon the role of mind at any point of time. Understanding mind and working function becomes imperative for any learned man to put things in order, and make fullest utility of it becomes more and more necessary as one progresses in life. Thus managing mind is ultimate philosophy of human existence. Decision making has absolute direction, so the right decision has become an important integral part of any management philosophy. Right decision determine right perspective, right perspective is the dividend of right profit and right prosperity.

Creative Leadership and Teambuilding Skills for Organisation Development 05-07 Aug 13
INTRODUCTION:In today’s increasingly change-driven world, leaders are called upon to evolve their mindsets and skill-sets to reflect and serve the demands of the new millennium. A novel leadership concept, creative leadership, is surfacing these days and becoming extremely successful to augment the shortages of the conventional leadership continuum. What is creative Leadership how it can be defined and understood, acquired and then how it can be placed in context within the history of the field are certain questions that the one would want to know. Additionally, skills and behaviours related to leading creatively, which are immediately applicable to leadership practice, must also be outlined and acquired. Creative thinking and problem solving are indispensible to leaders who want to thrive in times of complexity and change. The decision making is an important component of leadership. Both the concepts – leadership and decision making therefore go hand in hand. How to tackle these issues which keep chasing today’s’ leaders recklessly. A minimum asset apart from others which a leader should possess is his “followers” or in today’s management terminology is “Team” Successful organizations owe their success mainly to the good team work. Individual brilliance is no doubt an asset but if it is complemented with team work, the results would be of a superior order. Hence, the ability to build strong and winning teams should be nurtured in every organization. The acronym TEAM means “Together Everyone Achieves More”. It is also rightly said that “None of us is as good as all of us” – indicating that teams are always superior to individuals. Less “I” and more “WE” in organizations is the key to sustained success and excellence. Team building is an important factor in any environment, its focus is to specialize in bringing out the best in a team to ensure self development, positive communication, leadership skills and the ability to work closely together as a team to problem solve. This programme aims at creating a greater appreciation of these Creative Leadership and Teambuilding traits which every engineer, executive and professional needs

Drilling and Blasting Technologies and its Applications( With practical Case-Studies) 19 – 23 Aug 13
INTRODUCTION:Drilling and blasting are two critical and vital operations which have a direct bearing on the downstream operation such as loading, hauling and crushing. Fragmenting rock with explosives is still the most economical method involving excavations in mining and civil construction. Special attention has to be paid to the requirements that are site specific and to proper selection of explosives, blast initiation systems, blast geometry and drill hole pattern selection to obtain optimum fragmentation. Innovations during the last two decades have revolutionized the blasting technologies and practices. Blasting which was hitherto considered as an art is emerging as a full-fledged science. Implementation of new blasting technologies could result in significant cost reduction and allow for safe and effective continuous, uninterrupted mining operations in environmentally ‘sensitive’ neighborhoods.

Change & Conflict Management 29 – 31 Aug 13
INTRODUCTION:Change is the process of progressing towards improvisation, without being pulled by the gravity of returning back. When it becomes progressive and irreversible, it becomes a transformational change. Change is the only thing which remains constant in this world. Jack Welch, former Chief Executive of General Electric had said that if the rate of change inside an institution is less than the rate of change outside, the end is in sight’. Change management is an approach for transitioning individu-als, teams, and organizations to a desired future state. Due to the growth of technology, modern organizational change is largely motivated by exterior innovations rather than internal moves. When these developments occur, the organiza-tions that adapt quickest create a competitive advantage for themselves, while the companies that refuse to change get left behind. This can result in drastic profit and/or market share losses Conflict may be defined as a struggle or contest between people with opposing needs, ideas, beliefs, values, or goals. Conflict in teams is inevitable; however, the results of conflict are not predetermined. Conflict might escalate and lead to nonproductive results, or conflict can be beneficially resolved and lead to quality Solutions Therefore, learning to manage conflict is integral to a high-performance team. Although very few people go looking for conflict, more often than not, conflict results because of miscommunication between people with regard to their needs, ideas, beliefs, goals, or values. Conflict management is the principle that all conflicts cannot necessarily be resolved, but learning how to manage con-flicts can decrease the odds of nonproductive escalation. Conflict management involves acquiring skills related to re-solving conflict, self-awareness about conflict modes, communication and establishing a structure for the management of conflict in an organization. Conflict if not managed effectively generally results in to a problem. Problem can have its genesis to several other fac-tors also. Hence it is very important to understand what the problem is.
